After being announced as one of the three winners of the Upstate Revitalization Competition, local leaders are reacting with excitement.

The regions selected for the additional funding are the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier and central NY. That includes three Top Performer regions and the remaining four regions, with the award amounts varying from just over $100 million to about $90 million each.
Results of the Upstate Revitalization Initiative and Round V of the Regional Economic Development Council competitions will be announced Thursday morning.
“Amazing stuff is happening in the state, and it’s happening in upstate”, Cuomo said. “But it’s a different day”.
The winners of the $1.5 billion praised the process. With state support, Eastman Business Park is on track to becoming a global center for technological innovation and the STAMP site in Genesee County will soon be transformed into a key component in New York State’s next-generation manufacturing infrastructure.
“This award is a testament to the excellent collaborative work already taking place in the region”, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, D-Endwell, Broome County, said in a statement.
There were two tiers of winners: three $500 million winners and the annual Regional Economic Development Council winners at roughly $80 – $120 million. “The plan expands on the Southern Tier’s strengths and is proof that the region has what it takes to be a leader in rebuilding Upstate’s economy”.

“New York State is wisely reinvesting in the Southern Tier and we have several projects that will not only bring jobs, but will bring real development and opportunity to our community”. The Mid-Hudson council won $302 million. “And that’s who we are as a people, and that’s we came from, all of us, wherever your people came from, whatever country they came from”, the governor told officials from around the state who came to Albany Thursday to learn how much money they would receive for projects.
