Winning Mega Millions Ticket Worth $540 Million Sold in Indiana
Someone in the small town of Cambridge City, Indiana is now a millionaire – but we don’t yet know who holds the winning Mega Millions ticket – worth an estimated $540 million. In addition to the New Jersey ticket, second-prize tickets which matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball were also sold in California and MA.

And there was a less life-changing sum, but still significant also won this weekend, as one Hot Lotto ticket sold in south central Kansas matched the first five numbers but not the Hot Ball.
“I’ll be tickled if it’s someone from Cambridge City, or our region, who won it”, he said, adding, “I’m not the victor, but I wish I was”.
The $1 million New Jersey ticket is one 10 sold across the country that matched five numbers but not the Mega Ball. He said if the victor is a local it likely won’t take long for word to spread about who it is.
If the victor chooses the cash option, he or she will win $378 million before taxes. Seven are worth $1 million each – sold in Connecticut, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey and Oklahoma.
Hot Lotto is $4.1 million for Wednesday’s drawing. The winning numbers for the July 8, 2016 drawing are: 8-19-20-55-73. A grand prize victor has not been produced for about four months, causing this jackpot to swell to record levels.
Tickets are sold in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history was $656 million, which the lucky victor won in the Mega Millions in March 2012.
