Winning White House would make ‘very big difference’ to women, Clinton says

ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and MSNBC have followed the Associated Press, declaring that Hillary Clinton has enough delegates to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

But Clinton, who prefers smaller, round-table events, has continued to edge out Sanders, particularly among older voters with longer ties to the Democratic party. “Let me just talk to you after the primary here in California where we hope to win”. “We are doing phenomenally well with the people who are the future of this country”, said Sanders.

The Clinton campaign, meanwhile, declined to accept victory Monday.

The former secretary of state, USA senator from NY and first lady hit the requisite number of 2,383 delegates needed to become the presumptive Democratic nominee after a decisive weekend victory in Puerto Rico.

Those superdelegates have overwhelmingly supported Clinton over Sanders, but could technically change their position. New Jersey, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota and South Dakota will also hold nominating contests Tuesday, putting a total of 806 delegates up for grabs.

Since Democrats award their delegates proportionally, Clinton would need less than one-quarter of the vote to pick up those 26 delegates in a state where polls show her winning by double digits.

It’s eight years to the day that Hillary Clinton withdrew from the race against then Senator Barack Obama.

He said officials worked until almost dawn counting results of both the presidential primary and a local primary in which voters narrowed their choice for the island’s next governor, legislators and mayors.

One of Obama’s objectives, an official told CNN, is not “picking any fights” with other Democrats, including Sanders. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to discuss the private conversation, and would not reveal any details about it.

Tune in to AM 1290 and News 95.7 WHIO Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. for special election reports. The New York Times reported Monday that Obama is eagerly awaiting an opportunity to stump for Clinton on the campaign trail. “I try to keep that private”.

Mr. Sanders’ strategy presents a problem for the Clinton campaign and for the Democratic Party establishment, both of which are eager to move past the primary contests and focus their attention and energy on attacking Mr. Trump. Her supporters have said Sanders should look at that as a road map for his own exit from this year’s race.

Ahead of Puerto Rico’s nominating contest, Clinton had been just 60 delegates shy of clinching the nomination, when including superdelegates, who consist of party leaders and elected senators, members of Congress and governors.

But he did not make that case to reporters Monday, instead focusing on Tuesday’s outcome.

“Clinton is not only more knowledgeable about domestic and global affairs than Sanders, but also more likely to achieve objectives they have in common”, the board said.

Sanders on Sunday called on Americans to refrain from voting for either Republican presidential contender Donald Trump or Clinton in November’s election.

“I think we’ll probably have a pretty good sense next week of who the nominee will end up being”, Obama said in that speech.
