Smyth said the details of the case remain unclear, but that police believe the killing was “drug-related” and that Bell-Wright acted alone.

Witnesses last saw Nemeth leave a party in the Valley Gardens area in a auto with a male last weekend.

Nemeth’s family called off the search for the teen early Sunday as police converged at a home on Bayne Crescent near Tu-Pelo Avenue in Winnipeg’s North Kildonan.

Police have Bayne Crescent completely blocked off with yellow police tape.

Smyth said the property owner was not involved and actually alerted police to a commotion that led to the discovery of Nemeth’s body in a bin that did not belong to the home owner. The man who they could not recognize left at about 8 pm on Saturday. “I thought it was somebody making a joke with me, put a dummy inside, like, fooling around”. “It’s hard to believe”.

He was reported missing on February 14 and search efforts have taken place every day since then. Investigators made significant progress to the point where Bell-Wright was apprehended on Sunday morning and charged.

The tweet followed another with a photo of Nemeth with the hashtag #ripcip – Cip being Nemeth’s nickname.

“This is not the outcome that anyone wanted, and our hearts go out to the Nemeth family while they deal with the loss of their son”, he said.
