Winter Olympics: USA’s Jamie Anderson Wins Gold In Snowboard Slopestyle

Women’s snowboarding is better than this.

The sweep potential comes as USA riders have helped push the progression of the sport.

Kingsbury was fourth in the first run of the final and only trailed Daichi Hara in the second, but he saved his best until last to beat Matt Graham to gold by over four points. It’s about being in the moment, it’s about laying down good runs and focusing on the process not the outcome That’s a mantra we try to use a lot.

“I love cooking so when I’m home, I’m into like stir-fries, and like today I learned all different types of Korean recipes, so I’m actually stoked to go make some more delicious food”, she said.

“We have such an incredible, strong team”, Daleman said, “and I’m proud to say we’ve won and I’m prouder to have been part of it”.

After the final was delayed due to strong winds, Anderson held off Laurie Blouin, who claimed silver. The dream run Anderson had hoped for was quickly forgotten.

Hours later – and in some cases an entire day later – come the actual medals.

“I’m down with the tiger”, Anderson said laughing. However, the event will be better remembered for the tough weather conditions which caused the majority of the finalists to fall.

The windswept carnage continued on the second run when only four competitors made it through unscathed with all but eight wiping out completely.

The gold-winning snowboarder, Anderson kept her medal-winning skills in her perspective at the time. Find out more on the men’s moguls HERE.

“The progression has been insane and this course is really nice”. [Anderson is a Downy athlete.] My clothes and gear are really important to me! “The slalom today, I know it’s unfair if it’s windy”, said Norwegian snowboarder Silje Norendal. Get a break in the wind, and you could put one down.

Then it was her turn to come down the mountain and get her medal. “It was super unfortunate”.

In addition to the shorter final, the snowboarders’ two qualifying runs were canceled, as organizers tried to adjust the crowded schedule. It seems likely that riders will need to land at least one double in their run to have a shot at gold.

Big winds, on the other hand, are a big problem. After a 75-minute delay, Anderson and the rest of the field went to work.

FIS has defended its choice, saying that the event was safe even if conditions were “challenging”, AFP reports.

Anderson battled through insane winds and tough overall conditions.

“The first priority for FIS is the safety of the athletes and FIS would never stage a competition if this could not be assured”, it said in a statement.

“(I) got picked up in the wind on the bottom jump in practice and my ACL was not a big fan!”

So Anderson and Gerard are now snowboarding’s royalty, a pair of easy-going, always laughing athletes who bring a levity and cheer to their sport. The federation’s decisions on the two events on Monday will do little to disabuse them of that belief.

“It’s a little amusing that they can move the downhill five days and they pressure us into riding in these conditions”, Gasser stated.

In the build-up to competition, Britain’s Katie Ormerod and teenager Coady both suffered Games-ending injuries on the slopestyle course, which features high rails and huge jumps. I feel like we’re definitely coming in second. Other projects? We’ll be trying to answer these questions for you down below. I think we talked about maybe running in a couple of days, when it may have been calmer.

Sure, the riding wasn’t as impressive as it could have been or the showcase they would have hoped to have for their sport.
