Six to 12 inches “is possible” from northern New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley and portions of Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
“If you must drive during the storm, keep in mind to slow down and pull over for emergency vehicles”, Colonel Assumpico said. That’s not the case to the north where Allentown was only in the 30s at the same time.

Southern Ocean County is expected to get 4 to 6 inches. Amounts will taper to 4 to 8 inches in most of the White Mountains, with less than that farther northwest. The Philadelphia Inquirer was keeping a live blog of Philly-area snow totals here.
After going to sleep without seeing a single flake fall, millions of Americans woke up Thursday morning to find themselves in the midst a massive snowstorm sweeping through the Northeast.
The line separating rain from snow is highly uncertain, making the forecast of either predominantly rain or snow hard from far southeast Pennsylvania to Maryland, the Delmarva peninsula and northern Virginia.

“The only vendors we have coming in is if we have to haul snow”, said Vito Turso, the department’s deputy commissioner of public affairs. Just enough rain fell in the final 30 minutes of showers to cleanse the interstates of treatment, and with temperatures below freezing, that’s all it took.
