A winter weather advisory will be in effect for much of western North Carolina from 7 a.m.to 7 p.m. on Monday.
Monday morning forecasts for the region “are kind of depending where you are”, Sumpter said, and as usual higher elevation areas should expect more than lower elevations, whatever more or less might turn out to be by Thursday morning. The temperature at 4 p.m. was 28 with light snow at Akron-Canton Regional Airport and 30 with light snow at Akron Fulton International Airport. The snow will be heavy for the entire day then gradually lessen in intensity as the evening progresses.
Winds will be breezy in the Upstate, mainly flowing out of the south and west between 5 and 25 miles per hour. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Transportation is available this morning because the center’s van has snow tires, Buckley said.
On Monday, a separate snowy system was bringing blizzard conditions and as much as 18 inches of snow to southeastern Massachusetts and as much as 10 inches of snow to the rest of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and most of CT. North wind 10 to 15 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
“If we were expected to get 2 or more inches, we would put the parking ban on for residential streets, too, but from what we understand, this should only amount to about an inch”, Karch said.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 19. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

A pattern change that is taking place across the East will allow for another chance of snow early this week, as an area of low pressure may develop off the coast behind Winter Storm Mars. Clouds will break with a few flurries and highs in the low 20s. Chance of precipitation is 60%. “The location of where this feature sets up will determine the axis of the heavier accumulating snowfall”.
