The National Weather Service says the ice storm warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to noon Saturday.

STORMTracker meteorologist Mike Rawlins says those in the warning area will receive 4-8 inches of snow beginning on Tuesday and ending Wednesday. Gusty winds will reduce visibility to less than a mile and create hazardous wind chill temperatures.

Temperatures in northeastern Colorado will start to drop late in the morning Wednesday and are expected to dip below freezing by nightfall, the weather service reports.

Northern Utah and neighboring states were expected to see the brunt of the storm, with two to four inches of snow forecast along the Wasatch Front.

“It is important to note that some uncertainty remains with the storm track, which may affect timing and eventual snow amounts”, the NWS added, although confidence is high on a widespread accumulation.

Temperatures throughout Monday night are expected to be in the low to middle 30s. The east side is looking at one to six inches.

FRIDAY: Showers of a wintry mix will continue to drop snow, rain and ice pellets throughout the day.

Friday night into Saturday morning will be a very close call as to how much ice, if any, we see in the Metro. “Sprayed in certain conditions before storms, the brine helps reduce how quickly the ice forms and sticks to the road”.
