Rain Friday night is expected to turn to snow and continue through the day Saturday with accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible.

Madison is getting no time to transition into winter with a storm predicted to drop between 6 and 8 inches of snow heading this way Friday. For Rockford, Belvidere, Oregon, Dixon and DeKalb Counties the warning went into effect three hours earlier at 6 p.m.
In Eau Claire and most of west central Wisconsin, flurries could fall on Friday night, but little to no accumulation is expected.
On Thursday several counties were issued a Winter Storm Watch for the same time frame.
The weather conditions and track of the storm are still somewhat uncertain, so forecasters might update snowfall predictions before Saturday. The National Weather Service asks to only travel in an emergency.
Lighter amounts of snow, generally 2-5 inches, are likely along the shores of Lake MI, including Chicago, due to slightly warmer surface temperatures. High 46F. Low 32F.
Winds will increase overnight into Saturday starting from the northeast and changing to the northwest at 15-30 miles per hour, leading to blowing snow which reduces visibilities in outlying areas.

Between I-94 S. and M 59 to the north, a few places overseas there first half inch to 1 inch of snow for the weekend. The heaviest snowfall rates are projected from early Friday afternoon into early evening and could have a major impact on travel conditions as many motorists will be headed to Cedar Falls for the high school football championships.
