Wisconsin asserting itself during tough Big Ten stretch
Prior to the start of the season, Wisconsin was predicted by many to contend for the Big Ten West Division title.

Michigan State, for one, was exposed by Wisconsin. It’s not just, ‘Oh, by the way, here is the Star Spangled Banner.’ I guess they have decisions that people have to make.
Key play: Linebacker T.J. Edwards drilled Michigan State quarterback Tyler O’Connor as he threw, and cornerback Sojourn Shelton stepped in front of his man for an easy interception to give UW the ball at the Spartans’ 28.
The defense and play-calling of Justin Wilcox is a big reason why the Badgers are 4-0 and scored upset wins over LSU and Michigan State to start the year.
Michigan State continues their season next week when they take to the road against the Indiana Hoosiers next week. “And now we’ll take some shots”. Freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook also played exceptionally well in his first start for the Badgers.
(1) Alabama 48, Kent State 0: Jalen Hurts ran and passed for a touchdown and tailback sub Joshua Jacobs scored his first two career touchdowns in the Crimson Tide’s win over the Golden Flashes in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Spartan defense was eighth in stopping teams on third down, but at a 34.9-percent rate, compared to Wisconsin’s 50-percent efficiency on third and fourth down.
Ward was 20-of-26 passing and had 39 yards on the ground and another score while guiding the Cougars (4-0) to a 43-3 lead at halftime.
(6) Houston 64, Texas State 3: D’Eriq King caught a touchdown pass, threw for a TD and returned a kickoff for another score and the Cougars cruised to a 64-3 victory over the Bobcats in San Marcos, Texas, to remain undefeated. The Badgers also recorded four sacks and seven tackles for a loss, while keeping the Spartans out of the end zone for the first time in 2016.
Stock up: Texas A&M. However, Montez wasn’t phased by the tough road environment at Autzen Stadium, as he completed 23 of 32 passes for 333 yards and three scores. The interception came on the last play of the first half, which was a hail mary pass to try and get points before the half.
TAMPA, Fla. – Dalvin Cook rushed for a career-high 267 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 13 Florida State (3-1) over South Florida (3-1).
All total, five different players scored for the Rebels, including tight end Evan Engram, who led all receivers with six catches for 95 yards and one score. Cook’s rushing total on 28 carries topped his previous best of 266 yards against South Florida past year.
A season after leading the nation by allowing 13.7 points per game, the Badgers are allowing an average of 11.8.
Tennessee (4-0, 1-0 SEC) beat Florida (3-1, 1-1) for the first time since a 30-28 victory in 2004.
The protesting players have been seen as allies of the Black Lives Matter movement, which grew in response to a string of high-profile police killings of unarmed African-Americans across the country in the last two years. This time, Tennessee delivered the comeback by scoring 38 consecutive points.
The second half was all Wisconsin. Corey Clement took over from there, running the final 7 yards and getting a 1-yard scoring run with 7:14 left before half. I wasn’t impressed after they beat LSU and then struggled with Georgia State, albeit playing with lots of backups because of injuries.

For a moment, it appeared that No. 18 LSU had stunned Auburn on a touchdown pass as time expired.
