If the Titans want Mariota to perform up to his abilities, they will not only need him to take care of the football, but they will also need to protect him.

Mariota suffered a partially torn MCL in the same left knee during his sophomore season at Oregon.

“Winning’s always fun”, Wake said.

Miami proceeded to run a few clock with a drive late in the game that ended with Tannehill connecting with his tight end Cameron Jordan on a 12-yard touchdown pass for a 38-10 Dolphins score. The Titans (1-4) host the Falcons (5-1) on Sunday.

“There’s no defence for today”, Whisenhunt said. “The only thing we can do is work hard and get better”.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins, who had been on pace for a dismal four sacks after the season’s first quarter, are now on pace for 22.

The Dolphins outgained Tennessee 434-299 while pounding Mariota.

In between, they pounded Mariota. Whisenhunt criticized the hit. A big part of Mariota’s game is using his legs, so that would also seem to diminish a few of his effectiveness. “It’s not the way you play football. I think it was done with the idea of trying to hurt our quarterback, and that’s (expletive)”.

“I know one thing – it wasn’t intentional”.

Vernon said he is not “a dirty player”. “Why would I start now?” Schwenke was carted straight to the locker room and replaced by rookie Andy Gallik. Low hits on quarterbacks often result in fines.

The Titans are cautiously optimistic going into an MRI exam Monday on quarterback Marcus Mariota’s knee, Pro Football Talk reported.

Miami had been outscored 37-3 in the first quarter. The backup has not seen time thanks to Mariota as the team works to invest in the rookie.

Vernon expressed a similar sentiment to the media Sunday night after the game.
