6-year-old Ethan Dean has suffered from cystic fibrosis since birth, and approached the Make-A-Wish Foundation with the wish of becoming a trash collector, according to KCRA.

In a series of stops in Sacramento, Ethan helped the city get rid of its waste, wearing a neon worker’s vest and cape that say “Hero Ethan”. Hundreds of people came out to cheer him along the way, with handmade signs and loud cheers.

Most small boys yearn to be a superhero, the next Lewis Hamilton, a hot-shot pilot, or maybe the owner of the world’s largest train set, but Ethan Dean’s dream was, quite simply, rubbish.

“I want to be a garbage man when I grow up”, the 6-year-old told CBS13.

– Ethan Dean was living his dream on Tuesday.

In 2013, Make-A-Wish transformed San Francisco into Gotham for a 5-year-old boy who had battled leukemia for years and dreamed of being Batkid.

Ethan been watching them come down the street since he first learned how to crawl, Mr Dean said. In his 35 years as a truck driver with Waste Management, today was a first for him.

On the morning before Ethan’s awesome journey, his father asked him if he was ready for the “big day”, knowing Ethan was completely unaware of what was coming his way. He has garbage truck toys.

He says he knew it would be about garbage trucks. Riding in a truck with Sam Turman, Ethan made five stops in midtown and downtown Sacramento. The genetic disorder is characterised by a build-up of thick mucus and frequent lung infections, and the average life expectancy is about 40.

“Like I said he loves trash, so he’s going to learn all about it tomorrow”. “He is an unbelievable little kid and I just think that any of could be in the same boats as his parents are”. The only thing he needs to think about is garbage.
