With Dak Prescott, Jerry Jones finally over Manziel

It felt very Jones-like (with a nice dose of sarcasm) for taking most of the credit on the Rams moving back to Los Angeles. He was only on the field for 10 plays but made the majority by hauling in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys jolted the fans in attendance immediately when Lucky Whitehead returned the opening kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 Dallas lead after just 13 seconds.

Trying to give Prescott as much help as possible, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, La’el Collins and Doug Free played into the second quarter.

“It was a great feeling”, Cunningham said about scoring the Rams’ first touchdown at the Coliseum in a generation. “The O-line did a good job”.

It is tough to predict what will happen in any preseason game, but especially during the first one.

Goff completed four of nine passes for 38 yards with an interception.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers played just one series and connected with Melvin Gordon on a 44-yard touchdown. But then he came out and pulled a full Romodini, spinning out of what should have been a sack, keeping his knee from going down, and then finding Vince Mayle for a 47 yard completion. Linebacker Derek Akunne hit Goff as he threw, leading to a Mark Nzeocha interception.

Goff established a rapport with rookie tight end Tyler Higbee on his second drive, as the two connected three times for 35 yards on the second drive. No coincidence, Higbee is also Goff’s roommate. Both he and Rams coach Jeff Fisher said the move was precautionary, however. The Cowboys held on to that lead and won the game, 34-31, to improve to 2-1.

From the morning when the first tailgaters arrived to the evening and a game-winning drive, the Rams gave Los Angeles fans that old National Football League feeling back.

Yes, the Rams celebrated a return to the LA Coliseum with a win and almost 90,000 football fans experienced the event live. His play and poise could lead to a quarterback controversy, especially for a team that has struggled to score points for the last five years.
