With first debate, GOP looks to narrow vast candidate field

As his favorability ratings continue to rise in national polls, Trump’s ego drama could easily make the Fox News debate the most watched primary debate in television history – as viewers tune in expecting the unexpected. Seventeen Republicans are seeking the party’s nomination, but only 10 were invited by debate host Fox News to participate in the main event based on their showing in recent polls.

The “Official Donald Trump” hats, and all the products for that matter, boast in their descriptions that they were “Proudly Made in USA”.

Now, the candidates who hoped for a breakout moment have lowered expectations and simply want to survive what many fear will be a reality-show-like spectacle alongside the former star of “The Apprentice”.

At the beginning of the debate, he was asked by moderator Megyn Kelly about some of his earlier comments on women.
