With new hip, Jerry Jones sees pep in step of his Cowboys

Jerry Jones won’t say the term Super Bowl, but you get the sense the owner knows his team has a chance to win it all. The defending NFC East champs look to pick up right where they left off last season, and that all starts at training camp.

“I see more freshness, more bright-eyed, rookie attitude in the makeup of this team, for whatever the reason, than I did five years ago”, Jones said.

Mincey is scheduled to make $1.5 million in the final year of his two-year contract. “If he were not here, then I wouldn’t feel as good as we go into the season about what might happen”.

As the team begins its 37th year of summer training in California, owner Jerry Jones is upbeat. “McFadden is an experienced back”.

So now Garrett gets questions about building on what happened last season, and treats them the same way he did after three straight 8-8 seasons that ended without a postseason berth.

Stephen Jones said the team holds Mincey in high regard, but is disappointed in his actions because they expect all players under contract to be in camp. “We want to be part of an organization that we’re all proud of, and you have to build it the right way”.

NOTES: Garrett said McClain won’t be ready to practice when camp opens after right knee surgery during the offseason….

While there wasn’t much news to come out of the almost hour-long press conference, Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones took a hard line regarding defensive end Jeremy Mincey’s contract holdout, saying the team will consider fining him.
