With Newhouse iffy, Hart and Beatty next up at right tackle

New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings plays despite apparent hand injury. “We’ll tape it how I need to and keep playing ball”. “This is something I’ve got to deal with. Just part of the game, that’s really it”.

Head coach Ben McAdoo said Monday he expects Jennings to be limited in practice to start the week, but it is not clear what the extent of Jennings’ limitations could be.

Jennings rushed for just 27 yards on 13 carries against the Saints after opening the season with 75 yards on 18 carries in a Week 1 win over the Cowboys.

Starting right tackle Marshall Newhouse left the game with what the team called a calf strain and would not return. McAdoo said that Hart and Will Beatty, inactive for the first two games, would compete for time at that spot if Newhouse is unable to play this weekend against the Washington Redskins.

The New York Giants placed second-year safety Mykkele Thompson on injured reserve Tuesday, according to Art Stapleton of The Record. He also said he isn’t sure exactly when the injury occurred.

Rookie cornerback Michael Hunter was promoted from the practice squad to replace Thompson. There was no indication that he was hurt and Jennings himself does not remember one specific play that aggravated his hand.
