Published reports said the Bucks would acquire a future second-round draft choice in return for Dudley.

The deal can not become official until July 9th, per National Basteball Association rules. He played a minor role in the Bucks’ success this past season, and he averaged 7.2 points in 23.8 minutes per game.

Just this week, Dudley decided not to become a free agent and would rather exercise negotiation rights with the Milwaukee next season for a $4.25 million contract, as reported in NBA.com.

“DC!!!! Glad to be a Wizard!!!”

The Washington Wizards were closing on a trade to get Milwaukee Bucks’ swingman Jared Dudley to fill in the position of the exiting, Paul Piere. I know it’s was only there for 1 yr but what a yr!!!

In eight National Basteball Association seasons with Charlotte, Phoenix, the Clippers and Bucks, Dudley averages 8.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 595 games. “We started the foundation #goodluck”.

The move helps the Bucks salary cap situation after the maximum contract they agreed to with center Greg Monroe on Thursday and the five-year, $70 million deal they agreed to with Khris Middleton on Wednesday.

Dudley, who is only 30, will give the Wizards that same veteran presence off the bench even though his numbers and career arc isn’t the same as Pierce. Pierce helped the Wizards sweep Toronto in the first round then delivered a series of clutch shots during their six-game elimination against Atlanta in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

The younger Dudley represents an upgrade on the defensive end, but doesn’t have close to the shot-making resume of Pierce.
