Delle Donne revealed in an upcoming story in Vogue that she is gay.

In Vogue, per Trish Bendix of AfterEllen.com, Delle Donne’s partner Amanda Clifton is identified as her fiancee, and the pair split their time living in Chicago, where Della Donne plays for the Chicago Sky, and Wilmington, Delaware, where Della Donne’s family lives. She added the Vogue interview took place before that, meaning she has had a long time to wait before it was released.
With Delle Donne making her sexuality public, it’s a good day for athletes (especially superstar athletes like Delle Donne and Griner are) to be comfortable with who they really are.
The Chicago Tribune further reported, she doesn’t want that to change in the future, yet does understand currently, “there’s excitement right now because people see it for the first time”.
It is flawless timing for Delle Donne, who is about to step onto the biggest stage in sports.
In hindsight, there were clues in plain sight even before Wednesday’s news.
“I decided I’m not at all going to hide anything, Delle Donne said”. Weeks ago, a photo of Clifton was posted on social media showing her next to a sign that read, “Will You Marry Me?” and a caption that read, “I obviously said yes!”
Some of those people close to her are her teammates on the Sky who know who Clifton is.
“Everyone wants to make it this huge coming-out story and it’s not”, Delle Donne said.
In the past, Delle Donne has been questioned about her personal life, however, she has always declined to answer those questions.

Delle Donne is now at least the third member of the U.S. Olympic women’s basketball team to announce her same-sex marriage. Griner and Delle Donne – who played at DE in college – went 1-2 in the 2013 WNBA draft.
