Woman accuses former NY Governor Spitzer of assault
The New York Post broke the story, citing local law enforcement sources.

Manhattan detectives are investigating allegations of an assault and “the victim has indicated the suspect was Eliot Spitzer”, Detective Adam Navarro said.
The newspaper reports the woman is in her 20s and from Russian Federation. She said she would tell the police that she attempted suicide “as I had before”.
She later changed her account of the incident, became “totally uncooperative” and refused to speak with detectives, sources said.
Spitzer is denying the claims, and spokeswoman Lisa Linden stated, “There is no truth to the allegation”.
Spitzer served as governor for about 15 months before he resigned in March 2008 when he was linked to the prostitution scandal. According to the police, the source claimed the two got into a verbal argument which later turned physical.
Late Monday, Spitzer released a new statement saying, “The woman who initially made the allegation was not my girlfriend”.
Police are investigating a woman’s report that she was assaulted by former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer at The Plaza Hotel.
Cops left, but several minutes later, they returned and entered the suite after noticing blood and broken glass, according to reports.
Spitzer’s romantic life has been notably rocky these last eight years, a storminess one could plausibly attribute to what appears to be his consistently awful judgment. She is reportedly not cooperating with the police investigation. “The decision was the right one, in terms of what I felt was best for the state, for me”, Spitzer said. He was never charged with any crime. Investigators found he had spent no public funds on prostitutes, and he faced no charges in the case.

Colleen Long could easily have written that “He admitted to being a paid patron of a high-priced prostitution ring”, removing any doubt that he committed the illegal acts which led to his exit from political office.
