The suspect, Towanna Randall, 38, of New Haven, was arrested Saturday night, the Bridgeport Police Department announced on Sunday.

Bridgeport Assistant Police Chief James Nardozzi said police were able to make a quick arrest in the case thanks to the numerous tips and around-the-clock efforts of officers.

Randall is being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old girl was walking to school down Boston Avenue when she was approached by a charcoal gray Toyota Corolla – earlier reporter as a Toyota Yaris.

The case made national headlines after Bridgeport police released video of the teen’s daring escape. The Safe Corridors program was developed jointly by the Board of Education and the Bridgeport Police Department.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic female approximately in her 40’s. It’s unknown at this time if she’s hired a lawyer.
