Woman charged £85 for ‘five-minute’ Uber ride after falling asleep
Which, as it turns out, was Warman’s biggest mistake since the driver then chose to take her unconscious form on a 35-mile detour of London that ultimately cost £84.95, or $111.

Hannah Warman claims she was taken on an hour-and-a-half drive around north London after she nodded off.
When London-based comedian Hannah Warman was heading home on Sunday night, she chose to skip the short walk in favour of an Uber. Her house was a ten-minute walk away, but she made a decision to take an Uber because it was “safer”.
Hannah added: “I had been drinking a bit and must have fell asleep”.
Hannah told The Independent it wasn’t until the next morning that she realised what had happened. I remember thinking it was taking a while, but I assumed maybe it was a new driver and he was lost.
It’s possible that the driver thought he was doing a nice thing for Warman by keeping the ride going so as not to interrupt her slumber, but not likely. When she woke up she had gotten a receipt for £85 and when she saw the trip summary, realized that for some reason she was taken on a ride all the way around town to jack up the fair by the driver. Initially, she thought it was “hilarious” but felt shocked and uncomfortable once she’d had time to think about it.
“I posted what happened on Facebook and some people had had the same experience – although no one to the same extremes as me”.
The driver either accidentally drove very far out of her way – from Stoke Newington to Wembley and round in a meandering circle – or cynically tried to get money out of a passed-out woman by driving as far as he could.
“Before I thought I could trust Uber”.
Since posting about her journey on Twitter, Hannah has had people asking if she was “okay” after the incident.
A spokesman for Uber said: ‘We are speaking to the licensed driver and the rider to establish exactly what happened and have given the rider a full refund.

‘Unlike other transport options Uber’s technology records every trip and sends riders a receipt with a map of the route taken.
