The reporting assignment was odd, mostly because it came from the owners of Las Vegas’ main newspaper: Take three reporters off their beats and have them closely follow three judges.

Lakeisha Holloway appeared stoic and exhausted as she made her first court appearance Wednesday morning in Las Vegas Justice Court, shackled at the wrists and dressed in jailhouse blues.

Lakeisha Holloway, the woman accused of being the person who intentionally slammed her auto into a crowd of pedestrians on the Las Vegas strip has been charged with murder with a deadly weapon.

Metro officer Michael Rodriguez said Holloway is in medically restricted custody at the Clark County Detention Center, which could mean she is injured, needs medical attention or is suicidal.

The driver accused of ramming into dozens of people on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday night will be facing a murder charge.

Defense attorney Joseph Abood requested that Holloway’s arraignment be delayed pending further investigation into the incident.

Holloway is due back in court January 20.

“It shows her traveling in traffic with many other cars and then, for whatever reason, making a right turn onto a sidewalk where there were many, many people walking, and her running over people and not stopping and continuing to drive”, Wolfson said of suspect Lakeisha N. Holloway.

The felony child abuse and neglect charge accuses Holloway of endangering her daughter her in the vehicle. Her daughter is in the care of child protective services.

“I do want the public to know that she has a loving family [and] she is a loving person”, Hardaway said, asking for “prayers for the victims, prayers for Keisha”. He said it was otherwise unclear what might have “caused her to snap”.

On Holloway’s Facebook page, her latest posts showed her with a little girl who may be her daughter.

Authorities said they were struggling to piece together Holloway’s background. Holloway would not explain why she drove onto the sidewalk.

Abood says she’ll plead not guilty.

Deputy Clark County Public Defender Scott Coffee said Holloway was under suicide watch at jail.

“She was such a great kid while she was a part of our program”, one of the youth employment staff members said, according to a POIC statement.

“She’s distraught about the gravity of this”, Abood said after the brief hearing.

Three were still in critical condition and five others remained hospitalized. “I’m a mature young woman who has broken many generational cycle(s) that those before me hadn’t”.

According to TMZ, she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of her arrest.
