Woman charged over failed jihadist Paris attack
Islamic State militants in Syria directed a group of women who gathered materials for a auto bomb left near Notre Dame Cathedral, French prosecutors said Friday, highlighting the group’s apparent ability to command homegrown terror cells from afar.

Ornella G. was remanded in custody after being charged with association with a terrorist group and attempted murder by an organised group, prosecutors said.
She was also known to authorities for seeking to travel to Syria.
Ornella G. was arrested on Tuesday in southern France with her boyfriend, who was later released.
The incident occurred days after an abandoned vehicle ith similar gas cylinders was found near the main cathedral of Paris.
France, which is in a state of emergency, has been on tenterhooks with three attacks this year, including a truck attack in Nice on Bastille Day.
Her Peugeot 607 was found with its lights flashing in a no-parking zone in Paris’s Rue du Petit-Point, across the River Seine from Notre Dame, at 7.30am.
Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said on Friday that Ornella G’s fingerprints were found inside the auto.
French officials said that three women arrested in connection with the Paris vehicle were “radicalised” and had planned to carry out an attack on a train station within days.
Police found a handwritten pledge of allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi inside the purse of Ines Madani.
They were guided by the IS in Syria, anti-terrorism prosecutor Francois Molins said on Friday.
Sarah H. had promised to marry Larossi Abballa, 25, who died in a raid in a Paris suburb after killing two police employees and taking their infant hostage in June, Mr. Molins said.
Sarah H. then became engaged to Adel Kermiche, who along with another man killed an elderly priest near the city of Rouen in July.
“In the last few days and hours, a terrorist cell was dismantled, composed of young women totally receptive to the deadly Daesh ideology”, Molins said, referring to IS by another name.
