Barbara Dawson, 57, of Bristol, Fla., was admitted Sunday evening to Calhoun Liberty Hospital in nearby Blountstown after arriving by ambulance and seeking help for stomach pain. Ruth Attaway, administrator and CEO of the hospital, was quoted by The Tallahassee Democrat as saying that staff did everything they could to save Dawson. Hospital staff banned her from the 25-bed facility and called police when she refused to leave. She was arrested for refusing to leave a hospital. “Instead, she is forcibly removed and put in cuffs”, Parks told the Associated Press.

When she was returned to the hospital, Dawson was still breathing, Mallory said.

Before being placed in the back of the patrol vehicle, Dawson collapsed. The Florida state medical examiner ruled on Wednesday that she died from natural causes due to a blood clot in her lung. He says they won’t have final answers until autopsy results come in.
