Easter says she chose to record the surgery after a tense meeting with her doctors, in which she threatened to file a complaint when her surgery wasn’t scheduled in a timely manner.

Easter says she hid a recorder in her hair extensions before undergoing a hernia operation at LBJ Hospital in northwest Harris County.
As soon as she is heard starting to snore on tape, the doctor is heard talking about her with his colleagues in the operating room.
One member of the team at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital called her “Precious”, which she believes is a reference to Gabourey Sidibe’s character in the 2009 movie of the same name. She said she felt unable to wait and described the surgeon as becoming “very abrupt” before being asked, “Who do you think you are?” and being told she would have to wait like everyone else.
“When I heard the comments on the tape and listened to them I was shocked”, said community activist Quanell X.
“It was Precious meet Precious, as though I was this big fat black woman”, Easter said of the recording.
She told the outlet that the entire experience has given her “self-esteem issues”.

Google Easter is not sure if she will pursue legal action, though Harris Health System, which runs the Houston hospital, says it has told staff to be more mindful in the operating room.
According to Fox26, Ethel Easter, a woman from Texas, was uncomfortable about her doctor after she’d had a bad conversation with him during her consultation appointment.
Harris Health Systems has yet to respond to a request for comment from The Independent.
Easter has also said that she doesn’t intend to sue anyone but just wanted to share her story.

It’s worth pointing out that recording your own surgery isn’t something everyone can or should try, since privacy laws in some states require that both parties be aware they’re being recorded.
