Police identified the killed intruder as David Daniel McCrary, originally from Gresham, a town about 40 minutes away from Portland, where he died after breaking into the home.

When a woman returned to her OR home with her two children over the weekend, she made a discovery in the residence, according to Portland police.
Police say the Portland woman was out with her two children that morning.
“Inside the home, officers found a deceased male”, police said in a press release.
A Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman said the 24-year-old shooting victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face, but his injury is not life-threatening.
The paper said she’s been cooperating with police and hasn’t been arrested. She was armed with a handgun and opted to use it to protect herself and her two children.
Police are still investigating the incident and will present the case to the Multnomah County District Attorney, NBC News reports.
Amber Murray, a neighbor, told KOIN that the woman’s home had been vacant for a while before the she moved in, and squatters had been taking up residence there. They say the family is traumatized.
“Detectives determined that McCrary broke into Ford’s home through a back window”, police said.

An autopsy on the man will be conducted by Monday.
