Woman injured in Swiss train attack dies

A 34-year-old woman has died after a man launched a terrifying attack on a train in Switzerland. Police said the attack had been caught on video – allowing them to determine that the man had acted alone.

Police have also confirmed that the 34-year-old female victim died from her injuries.

Five passengers were wounded in the attack aboard the train, and a sixth person who was on the platform was wounded as he pulled the burning suspect off the train, police said.

Police have said that, as yet, there is no indication of a political or terrorist motive for the attack.

Kruesi said that so far police have found no indications he had ties to extremist groups.

Late yesterday, police of Swiss had searched the home of the suspected attacker.

The Swiss police is taking the attack seriously. They said in a statement that he died in a hospital on Sunday.

The attack occurred on a train traveling between the towns of Buchs and Sennwald in northeast Switzerland on Saturday, when the perpetrator spilled out flammable liquid and set it on fire before proceeding to stab passengers.

He was subsequently treated for smoke inhalation and burns, Kruesi said.

An 18-year-old German-Iranian also went on a gun rampage in a shopping mall In Munich, leaving nine people dead.

She had been doused with a flammable liquid, leading to speculation she might have been the target.

Police did not provide any details on the identities or nationalities of the victims.

Several dozen other passengers were on board at the time of the shock incident, and a “massive contingent” of police, firefighters, rescue helicopters and paramedics are at the scene.

Saint Gallen prosecutors, who have opened a criminal investigation into the attack, have sealed off the affected carriage, which is being scrutinised by forensics teams.
