Woman killed by duck boat near Boston Common

The victim was a woman in her 20s, and she was riding a motorized scooter.

Critics also say the duck boats should not be allowed on the streets because the duck boat tour guides can not quack – duck tours are known for their fowl entertainment value – and drive at the same time, reports the AP.

Boston police report that accident took place at approximately 11:30 am and that the woman was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Passengers told FOX25 that they were very concerned for the woman who died and the male passenger as well as the driver of the Duck Boat, who they described as being very careful and cautious.

Duck boats are a quirky tourist ride with a unique history. The scooter was seen pinned under the pink duck boat’s driver’s side front tire. However, it was reported that the duck boat driver was taken by police for questioning. The boat was carrying more than 20 people, according to Boston.com.

A Boston Duck Tours spokesperson said the company’s CEO went to the scene of the crash.

This is not the first mishap on the nation’s roads and waterways involving duck boats.

Police say two people were hit while riding a motor scooter in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. The passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries, McGuire added.
