Woman Plunges From Bay Bridge After Crash
Someone has seen too many action movies.

A search was underway early Wednesday for a woman who apparently fell or jumped from the Bay Bridge after being involved in a crash on the span, authorities said.
Two women had reportedly left the crash scene and were seen walking east on the bike path.
Police are still working to confirm the woman’s identity although they did find identification floating in the bay.
The driver, wearing a black dress and no shoes, climbed another railing at the edge of the bridge and went over the side as the trooper closed in.
At the moment, Williams said, the case of the vehicle, which was stolen in Los Angeles, was taking a back seat to concerns for the woman’s welfare. A woman inside the auto, however, seemed to have hopped on the guardrail trying to avoid the officers, but fell of the bridge.
Officials said their primary concern is the woman’s welfare, and then the stolen vehicle. After telling officers all they knew of the driver, which wasn’t much, they were released.
“The officer requested a notification of the Coast Guard…”
Other witnesses reported seeing her climb out of the water.
BELVEDERE, CA – MAY 17: Large homes stand on the shores of the Richardson Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge May 17, 2007 in Belvedere, California.
Later Wednesday, a dump truck driver came to Oakland’s CHP office and told officials that he picked the woman up and drove her somewhere in the East Bay.

A fall 70 feet is quite different from a fall from the Golden Gate Bridge, which is about 245 feet down. Of the 1,500 people who have jumped from the Golden Gate, a mere 1 percent have survived.
