KNTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1MjXVY8 ) the incident started Wednesday when officers responded to a collision on Interstate Highway 80 on the Bay Bridge around 2 a.m. They saw a 2014 Nissan Maxima spinning out and they went to investigate, reports CBS San Francisco.

Officers realized that two of the three women inside the auto had fled, but they were eventually found, although it was unclear if they were arrested or not.

An officer then saw one of the women fall off the bridge and into the water, according to the CHP.

That prompted a search for her by the CHP, the Coast Guard and Oakland firefighters in the waters off the bridge, authorities said. The police haven’t been able to confirm those reports.

Williams said several people called 911 later in the morning to report a soaking wet woman standing on the north side of the bridge trying to flag down traffic.

CHP officers are still trying to track down the woman and are following up on the address listed on her recovered ID, but have not determined if she still lives there.
