A 34-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman to death in Delhi’s Burari area. “No one came to her rescue”, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Madhur Verma told reporters.
Family members of the girl gathered outside Sushruta Trauma Centre (ISBT), broke down on hearing the news. He reportedly stabbed her 22 times, then bashed her head with a stone and finally kicked her before walking away.
Reports have said that Laxmi was in a relationship with her killer before her marriage, but their courtship ended prematurely owing to Sanjay’s unemployment.
More than a dozen of people looked on as Singh dragged the girl, who fell down as she tried to save herself, and relentlessly attacked her. According to the police, the assailant was in the process of getting a divorce from his wife.
They had lodged an FIR 4-5 months back and both the families had reached a compromise. He stays in Rohini.
Meanwhile, the Centre has sought a report from the Delhi Police over the death of Karuna. “Delhi Police needs to focus on citizen’s security than harassing AAP MLAs (sic)”, Sisodia tweeted.
