Woman Stabbed at Art Basel, Patrons ‘Thought It Was Performance Art’

Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the incident occurred around 5pm at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The scene caused confusion among patrons at the event, who thought they watching a piece of performance art. The victim was taken directly to the hospital and according to the Miami Beach Police Department the victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.

Another person thought the police tape around the scene of the incident was actually an art installation.

According to an arrest affidavit from Miami Beach Police, Zhao yelled, “I had to kill her and two more” and “I had to watch her bleed” while being patted down by an officer.

The bloody kerfuffle took place in the NOVA section of ABMB, where emerging art is showcased, in front of the Freedman Fitzpatrick Gallery booth, the Herald said.

Apparently, nearly everything is turning out be a joke at least that was how the people around the victim that was attacked during the exhibit by artist Naomi Fisher at the Art Basel Miami Beach felt. A woman was stabbed by another after a fight among them.

Sara Fitzmaurice, a spokeswoman for Art Basel, issued a written statement that read, in part, “The attack was an isolated incident that was immediately secured”.

Prieto said police arrived at the scene and found the suspect inside a barber shop.

“Our thoughts are with the victim”.

It is reported both the women were not exhibitors. One gallerist said she heard a scream and ran over and saw a young woman lying on the floor bleeding from her neck.

Art Basel Miami Beach is an extension of an annual contemporary art fair in Basel, Switzerland.
