Women bare breasts for equality in New York City
Meanwhile, she added, GoTopless is inviting both men and women to “stand up with topless pride” on Aug 28 to honor the 95th anniversary of Women’s Equality Day and to support the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment.

A group of about 50 women and men are walking topless in the oceanside Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice to demand that females get the same legal right as males to walk bare-chested in public.
Event organizers noted that the Venice Neighborhood Council past year approved a resolution in support of women going topless at the beach, but such a change would require the approval of the city and county.
The marchers walked behind an inflatable pink breast with the phrase “equal topless rights” written on it.
They took it off for equality.
“It is only logical that GoTopless Day protests (or celebrations depending on the legal status of your city) would fall around Women’s Equality Day since the right to go topless for women is based on gender equality as their right to vote once was”, holiday organizers noted. A giant balloon in the shape of a pair of breasts will float in the NYC’s sky.
“Yes, and I like it because one day I’m gonna be famous and they’re going to look back and those measly photos they took of me they’re gonna sell for millions”, McInerny said.
It’s been legal to be bare-breasted in NY since 1992.
Parades are also scheduled in other cities, including Chicago, Washington D.C., Miami Beach and Venice Beach, California. Gatherings were planned in New Hampshire, Denver, Los Angeles and more. Other celebrations are planned in cities across the globe.
Organizers seek to call attention to double standards about women’s bodies, according to the Go Topless website “women are constantly arrested, fined and humiliated for daring to go topless in public, a freedom men have had for decades”.
