Women Dead From Suspected Drug Overdoses at Music Fest

Two teenage girls have died from apparent overdoses after attending the Hard Summer Music Festival in Pomona, the L.A. County coroner’s office confirmed Sunday morning.

The women, aged 18 and 19, were found unresponsive at the HARD Summer music festival in Pomona on Saturday, the Times reported. Autopsies are to be conducted to determine the cause of death in each case.

Their identities were not immediately released, pending notification of relatives.

Drugs and alcohol are not uncommon at music festivals, especially youth-oriented events. “It is unfortunate that this kind of tragedy happens”. About 65,000 people were expected to attend the sold-out two-day music festival each day, which includes performances by The Weeknd, Jack U, The Chemical Brothers, Dillon Francis, Schoolboy Q and Rae Sremmurd. “People get carried away”, said Oscar Mendez, 19. “Individuals attempt to slot in and they do not know their limits”.

Michael D. Antonovich and Hilda Solis, two Los Angeles County supervisors, stated Sunday they may search an investigation of the occasion to find out if it was correctly managed to make sure visitors’ security.

This follows a 19-year-old woman having died of a suspected overdose at last year’s Hard Summer event in South El Monte, Calif.
