“As soon as I came out, the smoke just filled the room”, Moreno-Glenn said outside the house Saturday afternoon.

The fire sparked at the house on Harding Terrace at around 5:30 a.m. The fire was contained to the house’s attic and second floor, which firefighters said was engulfed in flames.

Crews entered the building and found the third resident, a woman in her 50s, in a bedroom on the second floor.

Moreno-Glenn and Etheart exited the burning home, but O’Brien did not.

Firefighters were on scene quickly and found that two residents who escaped the house had suffered minor injuries.

“On behalf of the entire community, our most honest condolences go out to the victim’s family”, Spillane said in the statement.

Dedham Fire Department, the Dedham Police Department, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office will continue to investigate the matter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but the deputy chief says the cause appears to be electrical.

Neighbors said they had been concerned that the fire would spread between houses, situated close beside each other and wood-sided.
