Equal-rights advocates in Reno, Las Vegas and South Lake Tahoe are holding marches and rallies on Saturday in solidarity with the larger Women’s March on Washington, one day after the inauguration of Donald Trump as US president.

Eden and her friend Sandra Bain are two of four women from Saint John who plan to attend the women’s march on Washington. “And yet there are those who’ve decided the cause is rips for mocking, and instituted the hashtag “#RenameMillionWomenMarch” on Twitter.
Williams said she hopes the march reminds Congress that people are paying attention to their actions. The president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards will also serve as one of the keynote speakers at the pre-march rally.
Luckily, many of those targeted by the vitriol aren’t hesitating to speak out against the hate.
“Anybody can wake up and be angry, but not everybody can wake up and do something about it”, she said.
During a tense political climate, they want to make sure women’s rights are a priority in the new administration.
Maracle and her grandson, Jaxon, are part of a group of Buffalonians driving to Syracuse Thursday night to catch a bus to D.C. They are going to be part of Friday’s protests and Saturday’s Women’s March.
We are seeking the right to health care, education, equal treatment, and basic human dignity.
The Women’s March on Washington will feature a series of speeches by advocates and activists like Angela Davis and Gloria Steinem, and musical performances by Janelle Monae, Maxwell, and the Indigo Girls.
Organizers say on their website that the march will send a bold message to the government on their first day in office.

“I’ve had a lot of support from other women that can’t go, that are really excited that I’m going, kind of for them, in a way, as a representative”, Mitchell said. “These are all women’s rights when you get down to it”. We keep our eyes open. “We were critical thinkers”, says Bain. “They are saying to the public, ‘We need to talk about these issues'”.
