In 2015, just 19 per cent of pupils achieved five A*-C grades including English and maths.
“English has now bounced back to previous performance levels having achieved 83 per cent A*-C”.
“I would like to thank our committed, talented and passionate staff who work relentlessly to ensure that every student’s success is inevitable”.
Top achievers in the year include Eleanor Jones (10 A*s and three As), Alice Sharman (five A*s, six As and one B) and Holly Williams (six A*s, four As and two Bs).
Twins Jack and Anna Smith are among the Year 11 students at Giles Academy celebrating their GCSE results today.
Headteacher Jill Gillies said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the results”. Ropa Sinyoro achieved four A grades and the equivalent of an A* grade in Health and Social studies.
“Our achievement is the culmination of a few years of hard work”.
There were also outstanding results in many subjects enabling the students to confidently secure college places. I’m going to stay on here and do A-Levels in Maths, Computer Science and Psychics.
“I am also very encouraged by the excellence in our key subjects of English and maths”.
Chairman of governors Lorimer Russell-Hayes, added: “What sets Penwortham Girls’ apart from many other schools is the ethos of high expectations that permeates throughout everything we try to do here”.

“Overall students were not as academically strong this year as they were in 2015, which makes these results even more pleasing”.
