Wood waits on citing decision after Williams knock-out
Wood apologised to Williams after saying he felt guilty for knocking out the Wales full-back as he attempted to kick the ball which resulted in a heavy collision with Wood’s shin.

Wales coach Warren Gatland subsequently revealed that Williams was undergoing the concussion protocols.
The Northampton flanker insisted there had been no malice in his actions, even though Wales captain Sam Warburton had urged referee Jerome Garces to ask the television match official to review the incident as the player received treatment. “It is something we are going to look at, with regards to citing”. It was just a bounce of the ball at my feet when I was running at 100 miles per hour, desperate to make something positive of it. “It is clearly obvious there was some contact with the head”, Edwards told a news conference. “We did lose one of our best players and in the position that we’re in, we’re quite short (on numbers), so we’ll just look at that later and make a decision”.
With key backs Leigh Halfpenny, Rhys Webb and Cory Allen already on Wales’ casualty list, winger Hallam Amos suffered a dislocated shoulder and centre Scott Williams a knee injury during the bruising encounter with England. It could be a distinctly patched-up side that takes to the field against Fiji at the Millennium Stadium on Thursday.
Rugby World Cup organisers have announced that England flanker Tom Wood is free to play in Saturday’s Pool A showdown with Australia.
“@SanjayWills really relieved to hear ur back on ur feet ok mate.frightful to see u stretchered off because of me.Hope u hav a speedy recovery”, Wood said.
“However, potentially we could lose more, there is no doubt about that. So, we will be putting out a pretty strong team against Fiji, showing them the respect they deserve after they have played so well so far in the competition”.

“We’ll be looking first at the original squad but we’re obviously in a situation now where we might have to spread our wings a little further”.
