Woods rues ‘awful’ putting

Does Tiger really believe this? Woods told USA Today that he has a plan now that the PGA Championship is over for him.

“The confidence is growing quickly, that’s the fun part”, Woods said. “Unfortunately I hadn’t played that much the last couple years, and I’m finally able to start playing”.

“Now I’ll go back to the hotel, and probably take a nap, two breakfasts, three lunches, a warm-up”.

He hopes to earn enough points at the Wyndham to qualify for the first wave of tournaments in the FedEx Cup playoffs, leading to the Tour Championship at the end of September.

Mark Brazil, the Wyndham Championship Tournament Director says this year’s tournament is expected to be huge. Reed has written about a multitude of sports events for over four decades, but he is perhaps one of media’s most knowledgeable writers on the Kentucky Derby.

Where does Woods go from here? This is where we are – the most dominant golfer of all time is now fighting for the tiniest of moral victories.

If Woods doesn’t believe he’s on the right path, he’s right back to square one. His will trumped them.

What he believes to be true about his work with Como still isn’t showing up in his results. Tiger’s career was whistling at the graveyard long before the leaderboard was posted on the lawns of Whistling Straits on moving day.

That’s three consecutive missed cuts in major championships. After he shot 3-over-par 75 Thursday, placing himself in danger of missing the cut for a third successive major, he used the oldest line in the book: “It’s golf“. His best finish was tied 17th at the Masters following an enforced hiatus to resolve the chipping issues that crippled his opening events of the season.

It adds up to the worst injury-free season of his career, if his season is over. Woods never recovered the lead, losing by three shots and he has not won a major since. Jordan Spieth leads a group at 6 under.

It will be interesting to see how much longer Tiger Woods remains among the highest-paid athletes if he keeps stinking up the fairways.

Well, after past year, it was a bit of a surprise to see Billy Horschel come away with the $10,000,00o prize. “So the season…is what it is, but [in the] calendar year, I still have a lot of golf left”. Woods’ own coaches, plenty of self-appointed coaches watching on TV and more than a few pros have offered advice on how Woods could, or should, re-locate the stroke that made him almost unbeatable once.

“It’s frustrating to miss any cuts because any time you miss a cut, you don’t have a chance to win the event”, he said.

But, he said he enjoys the process of trying to fix his game.

Still: The 14-time major victor is a huge attraction wherever he plays, and especially for casual golf fans.

“If water gets through this shoe, then the tape gets wet, and then that would be a little more than just sort of annoying or uncomfortable for the rest of the day”, he said.
