Woody Allen’s mysterious TV show releases first photos

If nothing else, it shows that Allen’s ability to build a unique world hasn’t been lost in the translation from a filmmaker to a series director. Titled Crisis in Six Scenes, the series is made up of six episodes, each running half-an-hour, and after a first teaser clip, today brings new details and images.

Crisis in Six Scenes is a comedy that will take place in the USA during the 1960s, marking a tense and tumultuous time in American history. Crisis in Six Scenes debuts next month, and you can now see some new photos from the series now.

Allen and Elaine May will play the conservative suburban normals, E.W. reports, while John Magaro will play their (equally conventional) houseguest and Rachel Brosnahan will play his (similarly stuffy) fiancée. The mini series will focus on the counter-culture movement of the ’60s and how someone with radically different views can come into your life and make you question everything. For me, it has been very, very hard. The series is set to premiere on September 30, exclusively on Amazon.

In one photo released by Amazon on Tuesday, Woody Allen appears to be chatting with Cyrus, who is sporting baggy green trousers, a bohemian poncho, and long blonde locks. There’s not been much released about the series thus far but Allen’s works tend to look pretty simplistic on paper anyhow, only to expand into potent philosophical quandaries through Allen’s imagery and rhythmic editing.
