Wooga and Fox team up to make Futurama mobile game

Despite the series’ finale in 2013 (after returning from the dead in 2010),Futuramahas lived on, whether it be in aSimpsonscrossover or, now, a mobile video game. The game is actually based on Futurama, and it’s coming to us though a partnership between Berlin-based developer Wooga and Fox Digital Entertainment. Matt Groening’s sci-fi cartoon universe will be the basis for Futurama: Game of Drones, a puzzle game in which players connect delivery robots together to win a “desperately imbalanced trade war” against similarly imbalanced corporate despot Mom.

Futurama characters Bender, Fry, Leela and the rest of the Planet Express crew were last seen on a crossover episode of The Simpsons in 2014 titled “Simpsorama”.

Game of Drones features an original storyline written by Dave Grossman (Secret of Monkey Island, The Wolf Among Us), Jonathon Myers (Game of Thrones: Ascent) and Patric M. Verrone, a member of the original FUTURAMA writing team.

Both PlayStation 2 and Xbox tried to keep its spirit alive by releasing two action games, but were met with mixed response from the public.

It also sounds a bit like other animated show tie-ins, such as The Simpsons: Tapped Out and Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff.

Neither Wooga nor 20th Century Fox have provided a release date for the game yet, but it’s in active development so it shouldn’t be long before the title hits the App Store.
