The National Aids Council says although there’s been a reduction in new Aids infections in the country, females in rural parts of South Africa remain most at risk.

“We are trying to make people aware that its very simple, and just give them the steps in order to keep from getting infected”, said HIV and AIDS Educator, Dan Rodriguez.

On World AIDS Day, we recognize the millions of people impacted by HIV/AIDS – the lives lost and the families forever torn apart by this disease. In Ohio, there were 950 new HIV cases reported in 2014.

On World AIDS Day, former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is talking about efforts to bring the disease down to zero.

Tuesday morning, Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) received the World AIDS Day Leadership Award from the End AIDS NY 2020 Coalition at The Apollo Theater in New York City. “According to International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC) Guidelines 2015, an estimated 50 per cent of people living with HIV (PLHIV) globally are unaware of their status”.

“Despite the tremendous progress made in responding to the epidemic over the past three decades, the annual number of new HIV cases has not declined and remains unacceptably high”, said Dr. Ed Ehlinger, Minnesota Commissioner of Health (MDH). He said anyone who thinks they might have been exposed to HIV should get tested.
