Yesterday’s media briefing by Blizzard brought us details of new Heroes and a new battleground coming to Heroes of the Storm, as well as even more mischievous mechanics for Hearthstone, but the publisher’s not done with Gamescom quite yet.
Blizzard has revealed World of Warcraft:, the sixth expansion for its long-running MMO. The expansion was announced on Thursday during Gamescom 2015. It’s draw is the tomb of Sargeras, another throwback lore point harboring the well-known creator/leader of the Burning Crusade, last seen in a convoluted flashback circa Blizzard’s pre-World of Warcraft real-time strategy entry Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Thanks to Gul’dan, the Tomb is now host to portals to all kinds of Burning Legion planets, leading to the largest demonic invasion in the history of Azeroth.
“World of Warcraft: Legion” sees ancient weapons return, with players able to customize them and change their appearance. Most important of all, a new class will be added: the Demon Hunter. Queen Azshara rocks up as well.
The expansion introduces the the new Demon Hunter character class, an Elven outcast shunned for daring to wield the bad powers of the Legion. Also known as Warlords or WoD, it takes players to the orc home world Draenor, as it was in “Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal”.

Only a year after the launch of Warlords of Draenor, the game’s current expansion, Blizzard seems poised to drop more bombs on its fans this year (and hopefully regain some much needed subscription numbers).
