“Foreign Secretary also said that he looks forward to discussing with his counterpart the earliest possible vacation of Pakistan’s illegal occupation of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir”, the spokesperson said.

Mr. Madani was on a visit to Pakistan to apprise the Pakistani leadership of the upcoming Foreign Ministers meeting of the OIC at Tashkent in Uzbekistan. Pakistan’s record of cross-border terrorism and infiltration were central to the problems in Balochistan.

He appreciated Pakistan’s willingness to address the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions, the radio report said.

Almost 70 people have been killed in the Kashmir Valley in clashes with security forces in the wake of the killing of a prominent Kashmiri separatist Burhan Wani, in a military operation on July 8.

“The global community has the role to play in this regard”, he said, adding the world must realize that human rights violations should be addressed promptly.

“Prime Minister Modi seems more concerned about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which is welcome, than he is interested in holding talks with India’s Kashmiris”, Mr Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

In a sharp retort, Pakistan’s foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz said Modi was “only trying to divert world attention from the grim tragedy that has been unfolding in the Indian-occupied Kashmir over the past five weeks”.

According to the Pakistan Foreign Ministry statement, Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale was called in Friday by Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and a reply to the letter of the Indian Foreign Secretary was handed to him. “We will continue to encourage the worldwide community to uphold promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the parts of J&K under illegal occupation of Pakistan, and hold the concerned accountable for their violation”, Swarup added.

“As long as the two neighbouring countries continue to delay the resolution of this long standing issue, the lurking threat to peace will continue to haunt the region with each passing day”, Abdullah said.

“The UN secretary general also appreciates the continued commitment of Pakistan to the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute for the sake of regional peace and security as the UN remains convinced that it is only through dialogue that the outstanding issues between Pakistan and India, including on Kashmir, can be addressed”, the statement further said. But this is not the solution for Kashmir issue. “The brutal use of force has killed at least 80 people and at least 100 have been blinded by use of pellet guns”, he alleged. “These acts were initially denied by the Government of Pakistan and attributed to local population, only to be admitted later by Pakistan’s leaders who directed and organised such cross-border attacks on India, and assaults on the local people”, the MEA spokesman had added.

Media reports from Pakistan confirm this, as Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to forcefully bring up Kashmir at the upcoming session of UN General Assembly in NY next month.
