Now, 116-year-old Emma Morano of Verbania, Italy, is the world’ oldest living person.
Susannah Mushatt Jones was born on July 6, 1899 in the southern U.S. state of Alabama.
“From a strictly medical and scientific point of view, she can be considered a phenomenon”, he said last year, noting that Morano has been in stable, good health for years.
“Her niece and I leave some biscuits and chocolates out at night in the kitchen”. Ms. Jones told the Guinness World Records that she kept a regular diet of bacon, eggs and grits for breakfast.
The oldest person in the world, a 116-year-old woman in NY whose life spanned three centuries, has died, a research group said Friday. After graduating high school in 1922, she took up the family business picking crops before becoming a nanny in New Jersey and NY.
In a 2014 interview with Time, she said she was the 3 of 11 siblings and was married for a short time but never had children. He said she had been ill for the past 10 days.
In a 2005 press release from the New York City Housing Authority, Jones attributed her long life to her lifestyle: “I never drink or smoke”.
Until the end, she was extra active and remained part of the tenant patrol of her nursing home till she turned 106. I surround myself with love and positive energy. “That’s the key to long life and happiness”. She also eats raw egg a day, ever since a doctor’s recommendation when she was diagnosed with anemia at the age of 20. One of her sisters lived to be over 100 and another to almost 100.
As of previous year, she was still living alone in her two-room apartment.
“She used to say it has to do with no partying and no drinking”, Susannah’s niece Lois Judge said.

She also credits eating small amounts of minced meat and only having milk for supper.
