One World Trade Centre, New York, was one of the first buildings to be lit red, white and blue in support for Paris.

The landmark CN Tower was lit blue, white and red in the colors of the French flag following Paris attacks.

Cuomo says the state police and homeland security officials are actively monitoring the situation for any implications in NY.

NY City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio says an arch in Manhattan’s Washington Square Park was also illuminated with the French colors on Saturday.

Governor Cuomo said, “In times of darkness, we confront the hatred that drives terrorism and the tremendous pain and loss it can cause”.

State Police and the National Guard have increased surveillance of “critical infrastructure including transportation hubs” and will be deploying additional resources to large public gatherings, according to the statement.

In Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said Philadelphia police had increased security and that the public could see heightened security measures elsewhere in the state due to the attacks in Paris. Travelers are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to police or other authorities. They say there is no indication the attack has any link to NY City.
