A sheriff’s deputy wounded in the shooting that killed three law enforcement officers has been released from a Baton Rouge hospital.
The Baton Rouge community is readying itself for the start of a somber period, filled with funerals and memorials for three officers killed by a gunman. Authorities said Long ambushed law enforcement officers fatally.
There will be another visitation for Officer Gerald Friday morning at Healing Place Church, and a funeral service will follow.
In Sunday’s Baton Rouge shooting, Gavin Long, a former Marine from Missouri dressed in black and carrying extra ammunition, opened fire on officers about 8:45 a.m., police said.
Ganem, owner of Trey Ganem Designs in Edna, Texas, said employees spent hours researching each fallen officer, speaking to their families and designing the caskets.
Miles met privately in unannounced meetings with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office and Baton Rouge Police. Montrell Jackson’s body. Ganem said Montrell’s wife said she “thought of him as Superman”.
Baton Rouge General Medical Center said Simmons was released Thursday (July 21).
Ganem says he wanted to donate the caskets, especially because he used to work in law enforcement.
“You know, you just can’t do enough to help your families, your brothers, your sisters out there. during a tragic time”. Services for Jackson, 32, are set for Monday.
A heartfelt donation is on its way from Southeast Texas to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Long’s motive remains unclear. Jackson had written on Facebook days before the shooting about the pressures he faced as a black man and a police officer.
Deputy Nicholas Tullier, who was shot in the head and stomach while sitting in his police unit, calling in the license plate number from the shooter’s auto, however remains in the in the hospital on a ventilator.
This is the second time CPSO deputies have been called to assist in Baton Rouge.
