She was brought to a local hospital and underwent surgery Friday morning, KDFW reported.

“She jumped on top to cover him on the ground as she pushing him between two cars on the curb”, Williams said.
Through tears, Taylor said “And then, I saw another officer get shot”. She grabbed her son Andrew and laid on top of him behind a auto.
Taylor’s fours sons were uninjured and she is expected to be ok. She began to sob, covering her face.
A Texas woman who was wounded when she threw herself over her son during the attack on a Dallas protest march said Sunday she would go to another demonstration to show her boys that she’s not a quitter. “They surrounded my son and I”, she said.
Taylor is not an activist. “And there were several of them lined against the wall”, she said. Despite being anxious for her children, she was also concerned for the families of the victims involved in the shooting. It had been her idea to go to the protest, the family’s first, which she saw announced on Facebook.
She said she tackled her 15-year-old son, Andrew, and “laid on top of him”. We’re watching the news in the hospital room, and all she can do is say ‘Lord, be with those families of those police officers.’ And that is what she is repeating.
Ms Taylor, 37, said when she first heard the gunfire, she thought it might be fireworks left over from Independence Day celebrations. One of them shouted, “Is anybody hit?'” “I’m thankful that that officer didn’t get hit as he was driving us”. “I tell my kids all the time, you know, ‘Closed mouth, open mind will get you a long way in life.’ Sometimes, just be quiet and think first”.
Chief William McManus says investigators are trying to determine whether the building was targeted Saturday night or if someone was randomly firing. “Thankfully I was right there because normally I’m not right there and it might take me a few minutes to get down in the elevator”.
“We heard a shot”, she said.
Soon after, police decided it was time to escape to a nearby patrol auto, which Taylor could see was already “riddled with bullets”. She also claimed that when they reached the hospital, the tires of the police auto were totally deflated.
Authorities say 21 St. Paul officers and six state troopers were hurt during the fracas late Saturday and early Sunday. They ducked behind a stone pillar. My 12-year-old was like, ‘I’m making history.
“I look up, I see my mom’s leg bleeding”, he said.
“I was scared and didn’t really know what was going to happen”, Jermar said, his voice shaking.

“He said, ‘He has a gun, run, ‘ and my kids started running”, she said. “He was really selfless and put himself in harm’s way to protect us”.
