Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s lead over Republican rival Donald Trump narrowed to less than 3 percentage points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll released on Friday, down from almost eight points on Monday. That’s an improvement for her from other recent Sunshine State polls averaged by RealClearPolitics, which had shown the two tied at 44%-44%. According to the latest McClatchy-Marist poll, he’s now 15 points behind Clinton, who has a 48% to 33% lead and has made gains among all major groups, including men.

Trump hasn’t been in MI since a two-day swing through the state for March 3 debate at the Fox Theatre in Detroit. But in June, Clinton suffered a 10-point deficit to Trump on the same question, 47 percent to 37 percent. Issues such as climate change, health, education and guns trail in distant single digits. Collins will not be attending an upcoming Trump rally in her home state and has publicly said she is open to the possibility of supporting Hillary Clinton in the fall.
