WSU DB Shalom Luani Arrested After Fight Over Delayed Domino’s Pizza

Luani broke a 20-year-old’s nose at the Domino’s Pizza at 854 NE Monroe Street after Luani was allegedly upset with his long wait, police said. The altercation then moved outside the restaurant, and the victim was later diagnosed with a broken nose, per Tennant.

Some of the other customers in the crowded Domino’s Pizza lobby suggested Luani ask for a refund and leave because he was “being obnoxious”, Tennant said. The officials arrested the starting defensive back for second-degree felony assault but ultimately released him for compliance.

Using the palm of his hand, Tennant said Luani allegedly pushed the WSU student in the face as he went through the door, and the back of the student’s head hit the door.

Pullman Police found the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Washington State senior under the influence of alcohol, but cooperative. Bill Stevens, associate director of athletics, said they will cooperate with law enforcement but are considering the incident a team matter.

Tennant said the report will go to the Whitman County Prosecutor’s office for formal charging.

Tennant said that he doesn’t necessarily think that this will end up in court. No charges have been filed as a result of that incident. No word on a possible punishment from the team for Luani but they are usually handled internally.

Luani started 13 games at safety last season after transferring in from City College of San Francisco. His 90 tackles and team-high four interceptions earned him an All-Pac-12 honorable mention nod.
